FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Orders and shipping

Where do you ship?
Australia and New Zealand. [Add NZ duties or taxes information, if any.]

How long until my order ships?
Everything is picked and packed by hand in Sydney and leaves us within 2 business days. You’ll get a second email with tracking as soon as it’s on its way.

How long will delivery take, and what does it cost?
[Australia: delivery time and cost.] [New Zealand: delivery time and cost.]

Can I change or cancel my order?
Reply to your confirmation email as soon as you can. [Add your cut-off, for example: once your order is packed we can’t change it.]

How can I pay?
[List the payment methods you’ve enabled in Big Cartel.]

Returns and exchanges

What is your returns policy?
You can return or exchange any piece within 14 days of receiving it, as long as it’s unworn and in the condition it arrived. Email us to start. [Add who pays return postage, and whether one-of-one Borrowed Blazers and sale pieces follow the same policy.]

What if my piece arrives faulty?
Get in touch and we’ll make it right. You’re entitled to a remedy under the Australian Consumer Law.

Sizing and fit

How do your sizes work?
Each piece comes in three sizes: 1 (XS/S), 2 (S/M) and 3 (M/L). [Add a measurements chart for each piece.]

What if I’m between sizes?
[Add your advice, for example: size up for a looser fall, size down for a closer fit.] If you’re unsure, message us and we’ll help you choose.

How do Borrowed Blazers fit?
Vintage cuts vary, so each blazer’s page lists measurements for shoulder, chest, length and sleeve instead of sizes 1, 2 and 3. Compare them with a blazer you already love.

The pieces

Where is everything made?
Every piece is designed and handmade in Sydney, Australia, by makers paid a fair day’s wage.

What finish do your garments have?
Everything is finished to the highest standard, including French seams. A French seam encloses the raw edge inside the seam itself, so the inside is as clean as the outside. It sits better against the skin and wears longer.

Why might my piece look slightly different from the photos?
Because each piece is made by hand, small variations in detail are part of the process.

What does “limited run” mean?
We make our pieces in small runs rather than producing them endlessly. When a run sells out, [it may return in a new colourway, or may not return at all: confirm your plan].

Are the colours exclusive to FRNC?
Yes. Seafoam, Cream and Cocoa are custom colours made for FRNC. Screens vary, so the colour you see may differ slightly from the piece in hand.

What is silk charmeuse?
Charmeuse is a silk weave with a smooth, liquid face and a soft matte back. It drapes closely and catches the light.

What is momme?
Momme is the weight of silk fabric, and a higher number means a heavier, denser silk. Our Peignoirs are cut from our heaviest charmeuse, and everything else is a lightweight charmeuse. [Add momme figures.]

Are the lightweight pieces sheer?
The French Short, Beach Trouser, Tea Slip, Princess Slip, Knot Top and Tea Camisole are cut from lightweight silk charmeuse, which can look almost transparent in certain light. [Add your suggestion, for example: wear over or under another layer.]

What condition are the blazers in?
Preloved garments carry signs of their past life. We note anything notable on each listing.

What is deadstock?
Deadstock is fabric left over from other makers’ production that was never used. The Piano Shawl is made from it, so the colour and weave may vary slightly between shawls.

Care

How do I care for my silk?
Hand wash cold with a gentle, pH-neutral detergent. Do not wring or twist. Dry flat in the shade, away from direct heat, and iron on a low silk setting or steam.

How do I care for a blazer or the shawl?
[Add care advice by fabric, for example dry clean only for wool.]

Collaborations and PR

Do you offer PR loans?
Yes. PR loans are available for stylists, editors, creatives and content makers. Contact us with your project details and dates and we’ll be in touch.

How can I hear about new pieces?
New pieces are released in small numbers. Follow @grace.frnc on Instagram or [join the mailing list: add link] to hear first.
